Ruby Skies Lodge has two double en-suite  bedrooms.           One bedroom has magnificent  views of the cliffs of the gorge through glass  sliding doors which lead out onto a veranda.  This room has a walk-in wardrobe and a bath  bathroom. The other bedroom downstairs has  lovely garden views and a shower bathroom.          In the lounge there is a large rock  fireplace, a TV with Premium DStv, and a  dining area separated from the lounge by a bar.  The fully equipped kitchen is open plan with a  separate scullery. Leading off  the kitchen is a  fully equipped laundry.  The facilities include a beautiful rock  swimming pool closer to the edge of the gorge  than the lodge, with a boma consisting of a  fire-pit for braaing and a cave-like bar area  with a twig roof.  There is another fire-pit  boma for braaing next to the lodge in the  garden,  as well as a braai on the veranda.  The attractions at the lodge are the magnificent  views, the large and varied bird life, the gorge  and its animal life, and the tranquility, privacy  and beauty that all this brings.  Nature lovers,  artists & authors, photographers, hikers, rock-  climbers, birders come back again and again to  this special spot. There is a style over the  Parks Board fence into the Nature Reserve,  where hikers can hike down to the bottom of  the gorge to the river fed by the waterfall seen  and heard from the lodge, and up the other  side. There are pins in the cliffs for rock  climbers to abseil and climb. In the garden  among the trees, there is a little slate table  which is a favourite sundowner spot, where  one can enjoy the Martial eagles, swifts,  swallows, hornbills, Purple-crested turacos,  Yellow-billed kites, and many other birds  swooping overhead as they make their way to  their nests for the night. The Martial eagle’s  nest is right opposite the lodge on the other  side of the gorge. The backdrop for this show  every evening is the cliff-face of the gorge.
